Gender and Capacity Building

Throughout the year 2011 to 2011, FAPEFE has worked hard to enhance the capacity of its groups in the Center Region.

Most of  these group comprise mostly of widows,single mothers,  farmers and PLWHAs.

Women are a large focus of FAPEFE's work because of he fact that women are generally considered to be the poorest of the poor in almost all the communities of the Center region especially rural women.

Due to this, FAPEFE has sougth to empower them through many ways.  The general activities carried out in these groups included capacity building through training workshops, adults litteracy classes, health presentations.

 

The following activities were carried out under this objective:

  • Adult litteracy program

This program was initiated in 2008 after conducting a need assesement for the community  and as of 2011 the project continues. The     gender  department of FAPEFE identified some gaps in terms of inability to read and write.  The programs was designed to to address these gaps in a twice a week one-hour class for the women affiliated with FAPEFE.

  • Skills trainings

FAPEFE conducted several workshops each year, in soap and tie die, leadership and group dynamics; and basic financial manegement. Every year there are up to 150 participant taking part in the different workshops.

  • Participation in national events

The last four years FAPEFE participated in the world AIDS Day , the youth Day and the and the women day to help to sensitize the public on gender issues.

  • CBO strengthening and legalization

FAPEFE worked out with groups through differents capacity building activities in MFOUNDI division and Nyong-et-So'o(Mbalmayo) division, as well as facilitated their partnership status with FAPEFE.

  • Participatory planning, evaluating and reporting

FAPEFE holds weekly planning meeting where all staff communicates to share informations and plan upcomings activities. As needed, project planning meetings are held to create timetables and delegates responsabilities.

Each of the activities are being evaluated at both mid-term and final phases of projects internally (by the monitoring team of FAPEFE) and externally (on community, regional and national levels with stakeholders for projects where FAPEFE is an implementing partner).

All department create activity reports and quaterly reports. Project reports are compiled after completion of the project by the project team. Annual reports are created for all of the organisation's activities each year including successes,lessons learned; and constraints.
